In Pakistan, Pharmacy Technicians are regulated healthcare professionals under Section 25(b) of the Pharmacy Act, 1967 and are registered in Register-B. Pharmacy Technician is a qualified person and plays an important role in our healthcare system under the supervision of Pharmacist.

Demand for pharmacy technicians is growing nowadays. In modern pharmacy practice, pharmacy technicians as a valuable part of Pharmacy Team, assist Pharmacist in preparing medications, collecting medical histories and educating patients, filling prescriptions, assisting patients, maintaining records, accurate preparation and delivery of medications to patients, compounding, inventory management, medical device training and other pharmacy activities. Qualified Pharmacy Technicians possess the knowledge and technical training to work as a Pharmacy Technician in a variety of health care settings, such as hospitals, long-term care facilities and community pharmacies.

Pharmacy technicians and pharmacists work together and enhance patient care and safety by improving work-flow in the pharmacy and allowing pharmacists to focus on drug therapy management activities and patient interactions, all of which allow the pharmacist more time to focus on patient care.
